Raising a brow ever so slightly, he shakes his head and gives a small bow to Tiana. “Not quite, really. Shadowman is… let’s say, a part o’ me. Please, darlin’, jus’ call me Facilier.” Smiling, nearly genuinely, he returns to his proper height and tips his head to her, politely. “An’ it’s a pleasure t’ meet y’all too, Miss Tiana. T’ be frank, I’m alrigh’. Could be better, but that seems t’ be the case for most folks in general.”

Facilier shrugs lightly and scoffs a bit, at himself. “Always better, but never complainin’. An’ how, may I ask, are y’all doin’, Miss Tiana? Things goin’ well, I hope?”

“You an’ the Shadow Man ain’t one in the same?” She nods slowly, “That makes sense. It’s strange, no doubt, but then again, you deal in voodoo an’ magic.” Tiana looks at him with interest. “What’s the matter suga-, erm, Facilier?” The use of a nickname was out of habit, but she felt odd using it with him. “You havin’ some troubles?”

Tia gives a slight shrug and tilts her head, “Oh, things are alright. Jus’ savin’ for my restaurant. I’m almost there. I only need a little bit more an’ I’ll have me an’ my daddy’s place.” She felt her cheeks heat up, she didn’t completely know or trust this man yet and she was telling too much about herself. “I’ve jus’ been workin’ a lot. That’s all.”

“Not strictly speakin’, no. It’s… kinda like he’s another bein’ that shares a body with me. He’s a part o’ me, though, that came from somethin’ bad. An’, jus’ t’ clear it up, that is puttin’ it very lightly. His existence don’ have a thing t’ do with my magic, though, darlin’. Not a thing at all.” Snorting derisively, he looks away for a moment, as in thought, grumbling,

“More like it’s got everythin’ t’ do with scorned, unrequited love an’ broken hearts.” Shaking his head, Facilier smiles her, touched and surprised by her small slip. “Not so much troubles as I’m jus’ not enjoin’ the current forced lonliness from a missin’ lady love. Thank ya for bein’ kind enough t’ ask, though, Miss Tiana.”

Intrigued, he nods, understanding of her situation and pursuance. “Well, they do say hard work prospers well. Ain’t true for all folks, but I suspect it’s more than true for y’all. An’ ain’t any point in lookin’ flustered about sayin’ more than ya mean to. Anythin’ ya try t’ hide just gets written on y’alls face. Much like an open book.” He looks closely at her, as though examining something not quite on the surface, and his smile shrinks to a knowing smirk. “Yes, I really an’ truly do see y’all goin’ far, Tiana. O’ course, that does entirely rely on how far y’all are willin’ t’ fight an’ dig for that place; how hard y’all are willin’ t’ fight.”

She nods, “I think I understand. That must be rather difficult, huh? I mean, y’all have two living in one body. Isn’t it hard to share a mind? It ain’t natural to do so, right?” Tiana was intrigued by his story, she appreciated his forthrightness. She wasn’t sure if she’d trust his magic, but she felt herself relaxing around him. “So, if he doesn’t have anythin’ to do with your magic, is he magical himself? Or do y’all share your ‘powers’?”

She places a hand on her hip and cocks her head. Her eyes widen slightly, surprised at his reasons for being unhappy. “Missin’ a love? My word.” She reaches out tentatively and places a comforting hand on his arm. “I am sorry sugar. It must be real lonesome. I hope she returns to you soon now.”

Tiana nods, “Yes sir, you’ve got that right. Hard work is all you need in this world to get by. If you don’t work hard, you won’t never get by.” She grins, “But I got my daddy’s determination and persistence.” She was, once again surprised, by how open he was and by his kindness. Maybe she really had misjudged him. “You really think so?” She asks, her voice soft. “All my life I’ve dreamed of openin’ a restaurant. Jus’ me an’ my daddy. Now that he’s passed on I jus’ gotta do it. But no one ‘round here seems to believe in me.” She frowns, but the look of annoyance only crosses her features for a moment. “But I’ll prove them wrong. I’ll work hard every day an’ night. I’m gonna get that place. Our place. And they’ll see. Jus’ cause it seems unlikely don’t mean a thing.” Her eyes sparkle with determination. “I’m willin’ to fight with all my heart an’ soul for that place. I’m gonna use all my might to make sure me an’ daddy’s dream comes true.”
